Amaury Cambuzat / Olivier Manchion founder members [france]

AMAURY CAMBUZAT / voice, guitar, piano... OLIVIER MANCHION / bass, electx, acoustic guitar... Amaury Cambuzat and Olivier Manchion plays together since 1987. They've founded Ulan Bator in 1993 in Paris, while building a studio recording in a disused chalkmine. They produced the 3 first albums together with Les Disques du Soleil du Soleil et de l'Acier. In 1999 Ulan Bator recorded "Ego:Echo" with Michael Gira (Swans...) with a new team. Olivier left from late 2001 (Ok:Ko release) until the summer 2005, founding Permanent Fatal Error and releasing "Law Speed" (2004), performing live with Damo Suzuki (Can) -check out for the 2003 Paris concert released as "Hollyaris"-, recording with French Doctors, Bias! ... During that period Ulan Bator as Amaury recorded "Nouvel Air", mixed by Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), and then "Rodeo Massacre" (january'05), both released on Jestrai, performing like 200 gigs in Italy and France. After a 4 years complete silence, Olivier and Amaury started to perform again together in june 2005 while becoming both FAUST members, thenlater, in autumn '05, they did with FAUST a crazy UK tour (to be released as a 3 cds Box + dvd in '06). From there the following was quite obvious : The original nucleo is now back again together. The first chapter's been the D-Struction tour (jan/feb 2006 - Italy + Sloveny), together with the original drummer Franck Lantignac. The 2nd chapter is CARGO CULT, aka Ulan Bator Duo (Amaury + Olivier) which will start late march'06. The 3rd will be a new album to be recorded late 2006 with the new drummer Alessio Gioffredi

Franck Lantignac [france] drummer | ULANBATOR + 2 DEGRES + VEGETALE + ursula minor |
Franck played with Ulan Bator from 1995 to 1998 and re-joined recently for a special gig/reunion of the original members (Cambuzat/Manchion/Lantignac) in september 2005 at Jean Herve Peron's Fiestaval (Faust), then for the D-Struction tour (jan-feb, 2006). In the early 90's he's been also member of Kivalo Dolgozo and Voodoo Muzak. Early 00's he recorded with L'Enfance Rouge and also Fred Vidalenc (ex-Noir Desir). Now working on a musical adaptation of "The Unknown", a film by Todd Browning...

Matteo Dainese [italy] drummer | EGO:ECHO + OK:KO + NOUVEL AIR + RODEO MASSACRE |
Matteo replaced Franck in early '99, starting with the "Ego:Echo" sessions.
He played with Ulan Bator until the summer '05 .

Manuel has performed with Ulan Bator during the Nouvel Air and Rodeo Massacre period [tours + recordings]
He left together with M.Dainese somewhere in the summer '05.

Quentin recorded the song "Ursula Minor" with Ulan Bator, released in France as a limited 45rpm in 1996, few weeks before the release of 2 DEGRES. He also joined the band for several gigs between 1996 and 1998 for furious improvizations on stage. Together with Noel Akchote runned the Rectangle label. Also: member of Prohibition (early '90s) and hundred of collaborations with the cream of free-jazz/avant-rock...
